GalleryJiri Michalek was born on August 16 in 1944 in Prague at Vinohrady. Having finished the school for musical instruments production in Kraslice he immediately and happily returned back to the capital. For a year he was working as a worker at pavement reconstructions and then in an office. Very soon he found out that to be a clerk it would not be his all-life-lasting hobby and preffered to start working in the production of the Czechoslovakian TV. Later he was a propertyman in the National Theatre and since 1984 he has been a member of the Jiri Srnec's The Black Theatre of Prague as an actor and a designer. Thanks to this theatre he has visited a large number of countries all over the world (Europe, South America, Israel, Singapour, etc.).
The first exhibition of Jiri Michalek's works took place in 1979. Since then he has been introduced at ten independent exhibitions (twice in Germany) and several times he took part at the Saloon of Designers at the Prague exhibition ground. The permanent exhibition of Jiri Michalek's paintings you can find in the "U Michala" Restaurant and Gallery in Olbramovice, close to the main road from Prague to Tabor.
